Buchen-Schleimrübling or Oudemansiella mucida
Oudemansiella mucida, commonly known as the ‘wood ear’ is a species of mushroom belonging to the family Physalacriaceae. It is a small, ear-shaped, brownish-grey mushroom found throughout Europe and North America, growing on decaying hardwood. This species of mushroom is edible, but not particularly popular as it has a rubbery texture and mild flavor. Oudemansiella mucida is also known to have medicinal properties, as studies have shown that it contains bioactive compounds that have antifungal, anti-inflammatory, and antitumor effects.
