A black-headed gull with red legs and beak stands on the sand at Ameland beach, waves breaking blurred behind it. A wide expanse of wet sand and tidal pools stretches toward a distant dune line on Ameland, a small striped lighthouse visible on the horizon under a vast, cloud-streaked sky. A great black-backed gull with a black back and wings, white head and body, and a yellow hooked bill stands on wet sand with waves breaking behind it. Ripples in wet sand form a washboard pattern on the beach at Ameland, with a thin strip of sunset light on the horizon under a heavy cloud sky. Layered clouds tinted gold by low sun fill the sky above a flat expanse of tidal mudflat near Terschelling, tiny figures visible on the distant sandbar. Golden reed grass seed heads stand against a beach and sea on Ameland, with dark storm clouds gathering in the sky above. Two silhouetted figures walk across a wide sandy beach on Ameland as the sun sets low on the horizon, wisps of cloud streaked across the sky above. Waves roll onto a beach at dusk, with a break in thick clouds casting an orange glow reflected on the wet sand. Several brown and white cows graze in grassy dunes beside a paved path, with a colorful sunset sky and scattered clouds behind them. A steep-gabled brick house with white-framed windows and a black front door sits between two neighboring houses, a small front garden with flowering bushes and a black picket fence in front, under a partly cloudy blue sky. The black, yellow, and blue flag of Ameland hangs from a pole mounted on a brick cottage, with a brick path and more village houses leading into the background under a sunny sky. A statue of a hooded figure in oilskins holds up a lantern with the sun shining through it as a sunstar, with fields and a low fence in the foreground. A large whale tail statue painted with marine animals sits in dune grass before the Natuurcentrum Ameland observation tower, a rainbow arcing over storm clouds above.
