I’m the founder of beyond content. I turned what used to be a commercial business into a non-profit company for social change. The trigger: a speech by Al Gore in November 2017 – and with it the idea that systemic change couldn’t wait any longer. Today six people work with me on a kind of journalism that holds two things at once: an honest look at the state of the environment, and stories that give courage – about folks whose solutions already work. Nobody at beyond content sells content management systems anymore – the work now is communication for a healthier planet.

This website – skigh.tv – is my private photography project. And most of what you see here is the big scenery. Things I find on my travels. Landscapes that get me thinking. Or visual anecdotes that give something away about the way we live. Often I manage to link a picture back to earlier episodes of my life or to old companions – and sometimes a text grows out of it. But when a picture suddenly looks a lot like nature, there’s another story worth telling:
During the Covid lockdown, I had to take a step back. For almost two years there were “only” the small wonders I found outside my front door, in my own garden, in the forests of Franconia. That’s where I fell in love with macro photography: spiders, beetles, bees – everything that hums and flies around us without being able to speak. We know their beauty. About their lives, however, we know very little. Even after that grim stretch of time, I stayed loyal to the arthropods, as they are called correctly. With “Small Beings”, they now have a project of their own.
